These MOSFET H-Bridges have been designed by NorCal Robotics and proven to be very durable
for driving those bigger motors that other drivers just can't handle.
These boards have been put to use in the harsh environments of the NorCal Robotics
prototype robotic platforms, and prototypes designed for our clients.
These boards can operate on input voltages from between 12VDC to at least 48VDC, and can
deliver around 8 amps continuously (The MOSFETS are rated for 18 amps continuous, with
proper heat sinks).
The control interface for these boards is very easy to use with any microcontroller -
three pins connect the uC to the H-Bridge: Forward-PWM, GND, and Reverse-PWM.
As with any H-Bridge, Enabling both the forward and the reverse controls simultaneously can result
in an electronic short, which will damage the MOSFET's. The MOSFET's also have an internal
reverse-current protection diode, which can overheat and destroy the MOSFET if power is applied directly
to the motor outputs while the H-Bridge board is under power. To prevent these occurances, we have
Fuseholders and Fuses installed on the boards, to protect the components from being damaged if the
signals get "mixed up" or if an electrical short occurs between the motor outputs.
